Very easily likeable. Looking forward to hearing this band develop. ”

Short Bio

The Small Press are a pop-punk band who have been relentlessly gigging through Sydney and surrounding areas since their formation in May 2017, honing their our bombastic and dynamic live performance through many hours spent rocking out at any stage that will have them.

Having recorded with Sydney punk royalty Daniel Antix (Nerdlinger) at Def Wolf Studios, their debut single 'Console Kids' was released in March 2018 and has been described by Declan Byrne, host of Triple J's Home and Hosed as a ‘…solid garage jam’. After playing numerous shows in Sydney to support the release of 'Console Kids', they released their second single ‘Not Afraid to Love You’ in May 2018, which was added to rotation on community radio stations across the country, as well as being played by Triple J on Josh Merriel's and Alex Dyson's Lunch program. The song was described by JJJ Unearthed’s Dave Ruby Howe as having the sound of a ‘pop-punkier Alex Lahey’.

Some highlights from the first half of 2018 include supporting Newcastle alternative rock legends dave, and being hand-picked to play at Rare Finds’ last ever showcase with Gold Member, High Tropics, and Nelipot. In August this year, The Small Press beat hundreds of other entrants and were awarded first place at the inaugural Frank Strong’s Battle of the Bands competition, judged by Johnny Took and Matt Mason from the DMA’s, Hayley Mary from The Jezabels and Monte Tremonte from the Delta Riggs.

In the latter half of 2018, they are continuing to gain momentum in the lead up to the release of their debut E.P, due at the start of 2019. In October, they are lucky enough to be supporting Thelma Plum at her performance at the Verge Arts Festival.

Their upcoming single ‘Remona’, is a feel-good pop-punk singalong, guaranteed to get the heart pumping.  To celebrate the release of their single, The Small Press are playing a launch show with special guests Boysnlove and Just Breathe at Waywards in Newtown on Saturday the 20th of October.

'Remona' Press Release

'Only a loser knows how to lose’ declare The Small Press in their latest single ‘Remona’, an energetic, tongue in cheek pop-punk rocker about deciding you’re totally into someone, only to then promptly get dumped.

In between its distorted guitars, driving bass and up-tempo punk beat, expertly produced by Daniel Antix in Def Wolf Studios, is a clever reflection on the state of transience that has overcome romantic dalliances in the age of Tinder, Grindr and Bumble.

‘Remona’ is due to be launched at a very special gig at Waywards in Newtown on Saturday the 20thof October 2018, with support from friends Just Breathe and Boys’n’love.
